Shadowlands就像是中國人所說的「絕處逢生」、「柳暗花明又一村」一樣，是迎接美好時刻前的shadow。

電影在英國取景，主要場景在Oxford，是一部文學氣息非常重的電影。

男主角Jack (Anthony Hopkins) 是oxford的文學教授，女主角Joy是來自美國的作家。即使是以文學為襯托，電影卻不沉悶，反而使用文化的衝突營造詼諧的氣氛。比如說: 英國人即使諷刺別人的時候也要表現的溫文儒雅的樣子，面對Joy的回答 "Are you TRYING to be offensive, or merely stupid" 顯得不知所措。

劇情的鋪陳看似平靜，男主角的情感卻是細膩卻有爆發力。內斂的個性，即使發現自己的感情也要表現出有禮貌、不在乎的樣子，到Joy病倒後才勇敢面對自己的感情，最後對摯愛離開的傷心和悲痛，只能說Anthony Hopkins實在是演得太好了。

因為是與文學相關的電影，所以電影裡的對白也精雕細琢的，其中有幾句自己覺得很經典的，就去google一下，抄錄下來了。
